Following a 36-year career as a Warfare Officer in the Royal Navy, that included command of HMS MIDDLETON, Nick Fletcher used his qualification as a, now former, Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development as an HR Director at the University of Southampton.

Since retiring from paid employment, Nick has accepted a number of Governance roles in not-for-profit organisations, building on experience gained in leadership roles with the Royal Naval Sailing Association that culminated in Chairmanship of the Central Committee. During his 6 years as Chair of the Royal Naval Benevolent Trust, which is the largest Naval Benevolence Charity, he was particularly proud of taking, with the Chief Executive and Board, a new plan to build a care home for Veterans in Portsmouth through to opening. As a Director for 6-years, including 2 as Chair, at Agamemnon Housing Association, a Registered Housing Provider for Veterans, he was involved in the transformation of the organisation to continue to deliver good quality homes. Nick is also a Director of the Forces Pension Society, which champions Armed Forces Pensions and supports Serving people and Veterans to make good choices.

As the Chair-elect of both CESSAC and CESSA HA, Nick will continue to work closely with both the Board and the staff team led by the Chief Executive to deliver housing and support to Service Veterans and welfare and amenity services to serving Armed Forces communities. He has a particular focus on effective governance and clearly communicated strategy. With his Service experience, that included overall responsibility for Operational Welfare in the MOD and deliver of all aspects of welfare in the Naval Service, he is passionate about understanding the needs of the whole Armed Forces community and finding ways to meet them.

Based in the Portsmouth area, Nick remains an enthusiastic, if ever more creaky, racing yachtsman and enjoys tinkering with his 1964 Morris Minor Traveller car when not dabbling with IT projects.
